Summer or hot weather is not usually the favorite of many people. As we feel tired, exhausted, and hot in summer. We just want to lay down on a comfortable couch with our pajamas on and switch on the air conditioner or cooler. Weather affects our body and its function. We face different health issues in different seasons. In summer the most common health problem is to become dehydrated due to the humidity. Humidity makes us feel very much exhausted and many other things like loose motion and indigestion.

How to stay healthy in hot weather?

In summer we should keep in mind to be well-hydrated. Some many drinks and fruits help us to make our body hydrated and cool. The drinks like lime juice, sweet curd or buttermilk, sugarcane juice, fruit juice, glucose, or ORS (oral rehydration solution) are the sources of hydration. They maintain the fruit and electrolyte balance during hot weather.

To keep your body hydrated and healthy during the summer you can add fruits and vegetables to your plate. Fruits like mango, banana, pomegranate, watermelon, musk melon are great sources of fluid and electrolyte. Vegetables like cucumber, onion, tomatoes, lemon, also help us to stay hydrated. Adding these vegetables as a salad to your diet will help you surely to be healthy in summer. The dietary pattern for summer should be less solid and more liquid intake. It will help us to stay hydrated and active throughout the day.

You not only have to keep your body healthy from inside but from outside too this summer. Skin faces a lot of damage under the hot weather. Suntan, infection, rashes, due to sun rays and sweating occurs. Do not forget to apply sunscreen or use an umbrella or scarf to go under the sun in summer. It will protect your skin from getting damaged from the harsh Uv rays. It will also prevent the risk of skin cancer. Also, you can apply baby powder to prevent rashes caused by sweating.

Aloe vera gel is a great source of hydration for the skin. You can use it as face mist with rose water or cucumber. You can also add it to your face pack too, make your skin cool and hydrated. It will also help in reducing the suntan and will give you healthy good looking skin. You can use cucumber to keep on your eyes as they will also get the hydration and soothing agent to help your eyes be healthy.

How can I stay active in the summer?

The humidity and sweating in the hot weather make us feel tired and lazy. The excessive loss of fluid and electrolyte from your body through sweat will make you feel exhausted. People often want to sleep more or feel less active in summer. In this case, You should do the following things to stay active in the summer:-

  1. Hygiene- Our body works differently in different weather or surrounding to maintain a normal body temperature. In winter it shivers to maintain the temperature. Whereas in summer it sweats to cool our body so that the temperature can come to homeostasis level. Sweating makes us feel sticky and smelly and we get irritated. Bathing with your favorite scented body wash or soap will help you. It will clean sweat and the bacterias on your skin. You will instantly feel cool and fresh after a long shower in summer. You can also use the bathtub to relax in with scented candles. If you love to go outside you can then go swimming and other water sports.
  2. Light food- Eating a heavy diet will make you feel more tired and lazy all day. You will only yawn if you do that. If you want to be more active during summer, here is a simple solution for it. Eat lightweight foods like salad or soup. Concentrate more on drinking than on eating. Light food will make you stay energetic the whole day. overeating or heavy eating will only lead you to bed.
  3. Maintain fluid and electrolyte- Maintaining homeostasis (normal) level of the fluid and electrolyte balance is very important. Especially in summer as we lose a lot of fluid through sweating. The loss of fluid and electrolytes in our bodies will cause many serious health issues. To maintain it in summer we should be careful about our lifestyle. Do not do more exercises or cardio workouts, eat and drink well. Regular checkup of blood sugar and blood pressure level to stay tuned with your health. Drink enough water in summer.
  4. Wet towel- Sweating already makes our skin sticky. Do not use a dry towel to rub your skin of face or body. The dryness will cause rashes and irritation to your skin. Using a wet towel to clean the sweat is a good idea. As the wetness will ease cleaning and soothing your skin. You can also use wet wipes or face/body mist to hydrate your skin well in summer.
  5. Aura- Fragrance makes us feel happy and fresh the whole day. The bad smell of sweating will make you irritated and underconfident. You can apply any of your favorite perfume, deodorants, or roll on to stay fresh and confident. The fragrance will not only make your day but also will make you feel active and refreshing all time. You can also carry a small pocket perfume bottle to apply it again whenever you want.

Summer comes up with a long summer vacation. We all want to enjoy it and spend our time with family and friends. It is a good time to explore the water parks and swimming pools, beaches. Summer is to enjoy water sports, ice cream, and cold drinks. Do not miss the enjoyment because of humidity and poor health.
